Avram Stanca

'He was not a desert, but a rare oasis,,
A bright orch pined away by burning,
A human being who has striven for immortality'

The Transylvanian family Stanca establishes in Petrosani in 1874.
The first among the Stancas is Avram Stanca, born and dead on the 24th of December (1843-1916). Could it be a coincidence? Could it be faith? It was a blessing for the inhabitants of the Jiu Valley because he was the one to pull up schools and churches.
The family has its roots in the Transilvanian Saxon Sebes, the nowadays Sebes-Alba. His parents where the pew singer Ion Stanca and Elisabeta.
He dismounted to begin his missionarism as a teacher in Petrila, a remote village at the bottom of the Carpathians. He prepared for the priest carrer at the theological school in Sibiu. After graduating theology, he got married to Ioana Chirca, the daughter of a hard working man. He got the job as a vicar in Petrosani, a delightful region, but a "Valley" which didn't know what culture was.
The 27 years priest and the 16 years priestess arrive here around the Christmas of 1875. The area is inhabited by 'momarlani', a people that was still bearing in their eyes, way of behaving, clothes and their customs the unalthered Daco-Roman colour. They had been withdrawn from their houses and moved on hills by the coal exploitation Society. The behaved very rough with the "aliens" who had come to work in the coal mines.
Avram Stanca was a teacher and a priest in one person. In order to give more light to his parishioners'sons, he gathered all of them in the confession school organised, in the church. Now the "momarlani" had their "school" because the only school in Petrosani was that of the Franciscanons.
Romania's taking part in the war in 1916 attracts a powerful back off of any manifestations with Romanian odour in Transylvania. The orthodox priest Avram Stanca is accused of betrayal and he's forced to refugee along with his family in the autumn of 1916, all of them being taken from Petrosani by the German'army. After fifty years, Avram Stanca leaves Petrosani, the region he had shephered, the believers for whom he had pulled up the school and church, with sorrow in his soul saying:" My last way!"
He wasn't mistaken. He died in his refugee with sorrow in his soul, but pleased with the faith. He had a reason for that!
For all the generations to come that will raise their wings towards the bright halls of this fortress of the light, Avram Stanca will be the model of devoutness, piety, truly faith, kindness and love because "everything is love".

BEGINNING? ………………
……… END?

"There was a reason
beneath Time
It could be both a flower
And a butterfly,
It could be both sky and plain,
It was abnagation and truth,
A reason of the Great Creator,
Condamned to Immortality."
